Howdy Surf Camp Families!

We are missing all of our students and families tremendously right about now. Although the 2025 surf camp season thrills still live in us, we are already looking forward to next season!

With that being said I wanted to send you all an email with some WSMS Camp updates.

We have some exciting news and changes on the horizon that we want to be sure you all are aware of!

The First Time Surfer Course

As you all may remember we have been building online courses for our students to continue their surf education at home. The time has come to share the first of 3 courses, The First Time Surfer Course!

This course is PERFECT for all of our students and parents to take in order to understand what their kiddos need to work on when it comes to progressing through the beginner stage in surfing. Due to all of our other activities at our summer camp, we are unable to take every student through all of these fine details, though all students do get the pop-up lesson!

Many parents have asked me what they can do to help their beginner surfer kiddos, and this is the answer. If you take this course with your kiddo, you will have a better understanding what they need to do to progress!

Extending The Homeschool Camp

Due to common request from a majority of our homeschool families, we have decided to extend our homeschool camp for 4 more weeks in October!

We have consistently had 4-6 kids in each week, and it has been such a BLAST.

In this 2-day camp, running Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-2:30pm we dive deeper into our 3 subjects: Surf, Art, and Music. This camp is a great homeschool enrichment option to ensure your kiddo is receiving enough physical activity and creative outlets, something that can be hard to maintain at home.

So, if you were interested in sending your kiddo to this camp but weren’t available for the initial weeks, now is your chance to sign your kiddo up!

Price Increase for 2026

As time has gone on the cost of our surfboards, ukuleles, paint supplies, and employees (minimum wage) has raised drastically from when we got started 7 years ago.

On top of rising prices, we have consistently maintained a 1 to 2 ratio of instructors to campers at our camp, making it the safest camp in town. We actually have more instructors working at our camp than kids attending some of the other camps in town…

This past summer our biggest week of the summer had a total of 52 campers… 47 in the main camp and 5 in the micro groms. We had a total of 30 instructors on the beach that week!!

In order to maintain the level of service we supply to our community we need to raise our prices for the 2026 season. We know this may be an inconvenience for some but believe you all are aware of the value of service that we supply at our camp… Some parents have even asked me why we haven’t raised our prices already!

This section is serving as a HEADS UP to expect a price increase of $75 - $100 going into the 2026 season.

With that being said, when we make our 2026 dates available for purchase, we will list them with the 2025 prices for the first month in order to give you the opportunity to save money and purchase as many camps as possible before we adjust the prices.

You can look at this as an early bird discount of such!

Adult Surf Play Create Camp

Over the years we have had COUNTLESS parents ask if we would ever consider doing a surf, art, music camp for adults. We have always been so pleased to hear that these parents value our therapeutic approach with play and creativity.

Well, we are considering launching a 2-day weekend camp for the adults this summer given we have enough interest in it!

This camp would cover all of the things we do at our kid’s camp, minus the big capture the flop game. Day 1 would be surfing and painting class and Day 2 would be surfing and ukulele class.

We would take parents through a slightly elevated lesson plan for the 3 subjects compared to the kid’s camp. You will leave with a finished masterpiece of a painting and the ability to strum through a tune on the ukulele. In addition to that parents would leave camp with an understanding of how to enter and exit the water safely with a surfboard, catch their own white-water waves, and stand up in the perfect position on a surfboard every time.

Before we make this camp live, we wanted to reach out to everyone and see if this is even something you all would be interested in!
